Growing up is hard. Growing up believing you live in a world that doesn’t care about you is even harder. We recognize the challenges that minority at-risk and underserved youth face every day, and the strain it can have on their overall well-being. Kids should be allowed to just be kids, but for many children in the communities we serve, that is a luxury.

We have designed an annual retreat for our participants to do just that—to take a beat, and not have to worry about where their next meal will come from, not have to worry about how they will help their parents keep the lights
on this month, and not have to worry about their grades declining and truancy issues created because of familial obligations.

From weekend lake retreats to outdoors camping excursions, our weekend retreats are focused on pouring back into our youth participants and renewing them, mind, body, spirit, and soul. Helping them regroup from their hectic lives and put into practice all the skills and tools our other programming initiatives have equipped them with. We use this
opportunity to help our participants understand the importance of self-care, even in its simplest form—phones
down and minds open.
