Not enough people realize just how much children in our communities depend on the public school system to provide meals and sustenance during the school year. During the summer months when most kids are looking forward to breaks from homework and lectures, the children we serve dread the long summer days where they must consider where their daily meals will come from. Here at Renewed Inspiration, we try to bridge that gap to allow kids to enjoy those carefree moments summer vacation should provide.
Our snack pantry serves as a resource for children to come and grab bags full of healthy snacks for them to indulge in, serving to take the place of what they would expect to receive at school. While the bags are not a complete supplement for the daily nutritional value of complete meals, they serve as a great way to fill some empty bellies between kickball and jump rope. We hope to be able to partner with local restaurants and grocery stores to be able to provide more complete and balanced meals to be able to provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks to our communities during summer break, but for now cheers to fun and fruit snacks!
